Description

50+ Greatest Classics for Recorder

In 50+ Greatest Classics for Recorder, many of the tunes are easy, but not all. The book is suitable for beginner to intermediate recorder players and ideal for the progressing younger player who needs music to play that is not too high or too low. It has more than fifty classics, so you’ll always have a good variety of music to play.

We’ve gathered together and arranged extracts from the most popular classics from the world’s greatest composers. It’s brilliant when you start to play a piece that you gradually begin to recognise. Questions fill your mind. Where do I know this from? How come I know this? I don’t recognise the title but….somehow it’s there stuck in your head! Those are the pieces I’ve included here – you know the ones!

Composers include – Bach, Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart, Rossini, Beethoven, Chopin, Delibes, Tchaikovsky, Borodin, Elgar, Strauss, Saint-Saëns, Holst, Dukas, Bizet, Verdi, Puccini, Wagner and many more and we’ve compiled the arrangements with the easiest at the beginning of the book. It has been a lot of fun.

In 50+ Greatest Classics for Recorder, you’ll find music from The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, La Traviata, Carmen, Lohengrin, Carnival of the Animals and much more – orchestral music, ballet, opera, choral – you name it and it’s in the book.

  5. Jemima

★★★★★ AmazonUK Review on 10th January 2016, entitled ‘Suitable for the beginner up to intermediate player’
‘It is exactly as described; the themes gradually increase in complexity as the pages are turned. The notation is slightly modified to accomodate the two and a half octave range, but this is quite acceptable to the solo player. I play these on a tenor recorder rather than the descant recorder for which they are aimed and have no difficulty with the later works. Were there a second volume to introduce more difficult music to the more advanced player, I would readily purchase such.’

★★★★☆ AmazonUK Review on 18th April 2016, entitled ‘Short but sweet pieces’
‘Good variety of classic pieces – though they are short (so wouldn’t work for a full length solo) but great to get to know some famous tunes.’
